WeConfort

Nutritional support

Complementary feed for dogs and cats developed to provide nutritional support for sensory disorders and to promote overall well-being, especially during painful and inflammatory conditions.

Dosage:

Animals up to 8 kg: 1 capsule every other day
Animals from 8 to 16 kg: 1 capsule daily
Animals from 16 to 40 kg: 2 capsules daily
Animals over 40 kg: 3 capsules daily

*WeConfort® may be administered directly into the animal's mouth or the capsule may be mixed with food.

Types of pain

Nociceptive pain

✜ Pain caused by activation of nociceptors in response to actual or potential tissue damage.

✜ Also known as "protective pain", it alerts the individual to avoid harmful stimuli (e.g. withdrawing from a hot surface to prevent burns).

Inflammatory pain

✜ Pain caused by the release of inflammatory mediators following tissue injury.

✜ Common after surgery and trauma, but also associated with chronic painful conditions such as osteoarthritis (OA), cancer, gingivitis, otitis, pancreatitis, chronic wounds, and uveitis.

Neuropathic pain

✜ Pain caused by injury or disease affecting the somatosensory system (the structures responsible for processing sensory information).

✜ Associated with conditions such as diabetic neuropathy, persistent postoperative pain (PPP, amputation, onychectomy), cancer, and osteoarthritis.

Functional pain

✜ Pain caused by unknown mechanisms for which no identifiable structural, metabolic, or immunological cause can be found.

✜ Examples include inflammatory bowel disease, interstitial cystitis, and possibly feline orofacial pain syndrome (FOPS).

Endocannabinoid system

The endocannabinoid system (ECS) is present in all mammals and acts as a regulatory network that plays an important role in the function of the brain, nervous system, and immune system. The ECS continuously monitors these systems to maintain their proper function. When an imbalance occurs, the ECS initiates responses that help restore normal function. Compounds affecting the ECS may be produced naturally by the body (endocannabinoids) or supplied externally, such as CBD (cannabidiol). After administration, CBD can modulate the endocannabinoid system and help the body function more efficiently.

Concentrated dry extract of Harpagophytum (Devil's Claw)

Provides anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects, particularly in painful joint conditions. Studies have shown that this extract may inhibit both cyclooxygenase (COX) and lipoxygenase (LOX) pathways of arachidonic acid metabolism, reducing the production of inflammatory eicosanoids such as prostaglandins. It appears to selectively inhibit COX-2 rather than COX-1, which explains its excellent tolerability and lower incidence of side effects compared with traditional NSAIDs.

Omega-3 (EPA concentrate)

Modern purification technologies allow the separation of omega-3 fatty acids, particularly eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). Recent studies indicate that DHA may help slow degenerative processes, while EPA is involved in inflammatory metabolic pathways. EPA supplementation supports healthy lipid metabolism, reduces body fat accumulation and insulin resistance, may help improve hepatic steatosis, promotes the synthesis of anti-inflammatory eicosanoids such as PG3 prostaglandins and LT5 leukotrienes, and reduces the production of highly inflammatory eicosanoids.

Hemp oil

Hemp oil is rich in cannabidiol (CBD) and helps modulate the endocannabinoid system (ECS). When pain is associated with inflammation or hyperalgesia, exogenous cannabinoids such as CBD may provide different levels of pain relief. In addition to its effects on the ECS, hemp oil is rich in essential fatty acids with strong antioxidant properties.
